Foundations of Computer-Aided Process Operations has been the premier conference in the area of chemical process operations since 1987. The conference offers valuable information on all aspects of enterprise-wide optimization and its integration with planning, scheduling, and control. While a very active area for academics, computer-aided process operations are seeing more and more application in industry. These applications are uncovering new challenges and are laying the groundwork for the use of leading edge concepts like Smart Manufacturing and Big Data. It is the goal of FOCAPO 2017 to present the state of the art in process operations while addressing the challenge of moving research to industrial practice. The conference has consistently attracted between 100 and 150 attendees, with nearly one third of them from industry and approximately 40% of the participants coming from outside the U.S.
